The first illustration. I sampled colors from the screenshot, but it ended up pretty drab and dark. Apple's character is fun, bubbly, and friendly, so this did not work with what I was going for.

Final illustration. I exaggerated the colors and made them brighter and more in line with Apple's personality. I also fixed her expression so that she looked more curious, excited and lost in wonderment rather than concerned. In this scene, she's reacting positively to the fact that the main character, Turbo Kid, is reading a comic book about Turbo Rider: "That's so rad!"
